The 勤工助学 program is a federally funded program that provides part-time employment, 主要在校园里, for students who show financial need.
Federal 勤工助学 awards range from $3,000 – $6,000 per academic year, $1,500 – $3,000 per semester. 工资从10美元起.75 – $12.每小时75元.
勤工助学 funds will only be disbursed as the student works the hours agreed upon between the student and their supervisor, usually 8 – 10 hours per week.
After the student is given their work schedule, they will:

- Be paid for the hours worked, like a normal job, twice a month.
学生 can only earn what they have been offered for work-study. If you do not work, you will not be paid the work-study funds that you have been offered.

Eligibility for 勤工助学 depends upon the need for employment to contribute to educational expense. Preference given to those with the highest financial need. 学生也必须 meet general financial aid eligibility requirements.
Once 勤工助学 funds have been offered, students must continue to meet eligibility requirements so they can retain their 勤工助学 position and continue to earn their offered 勤工助学 funds.

Complete the appropriate year 勤工助学 Offer Request form
You will need to apply for 勤工助学 each academic year.
If a student is currently working in a 勤工助学 position and would like to keep their current 勤工助学 position for the next academic year, they must secure their position with their supervisor before leaving for summer break.
勤工助学 Award Notification
After receiving the 勤工助学 Offer Request Form from the student, the 金融援助 office will check the student’s account for eligibility. Once the student’s eligibility for 勤工助学 has been determined, a notification email will be sent to the student’s Hawkeye email with the results of the 勤工助学 Offer request. If the student is eligible for 勤工助学, the 勤工助学 Offer will be added to the student’s 金融援助 Offer, with all other aid that can be viewed on the student’s 金融援助 Checklist that can be found in Self-Service > 金融援助.
There is no guarantee of employment or that you will earn the amount of 勤工助学 funds that have been offered to you.
